The tutoring program provides:

  • Assists students with homework
  • Assist students with study skills
  • The ability to maintain/enhance academic skills.

We offer both individual and small group sessions. Individual sessions are intense individualized assistance, while group sessions are kept small and offering individualized instruction. Tutoring is offered Thursdays from 3:45 to 4:30.

Tutors provide each student with the individualized academic attention and assistance needed for academic success on the standardized test (STARR) required by the stateThe tutoring sessions use an academically focused curriculum and lesson guide to help them prepare to deliver instruction that will help the student improve reading, math, and writing skills.

In addition, all mentors must pass a criminal background check, have experience working with youth, and attend all mentor training and workshops. Tutors receive continuous training throughout the year and report monthly on the students’ progress.
