Overview
Our S.T.E.A.M Program
Encourages learners to think independently to evaluate and determine how to best achieve their goals and complete projects.
Utilize an interdisciplinary approach. We use a cross-disciplinary approach to expose participants to multiple and imaginative ways of thinking.
Uses hands-on, project-based learning that encourages learners to explore, discover, experiment with different methods and promote creative expression.
Develop creative problem-solving skills. Learners are allowed to think outside the box to problem-solve. Learners use critical thinking and inquiry skills to solve a problem.
Engage learners with real-world applications that foster essential skills that emphasize creativity, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking.
Inspire more girls to explore STEAM careers.
Develop social-emotional well-being and mental health.
Camps
Our camps allow learners to learn through exploration and increase learners’ motivation and yearning to succeed. Our camps incorporate explorative learning. The goal is to ensure that students have fun as they solve challenging problems. The purpose of our camps is to change the landscape of (S.T.E.M.) Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education by providing opportunities in S.T.E.AM. for children within communities of color from families with low-to-moderate income. The goal is to ensure that students have fun as they solve challenging problems.
Our simulated camps challenge students to learn the fundamental aspects of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and science) using hands-on, real-world applications. Our camps include guided activities and exploratory experiential learning that encourages teamwork that fosters collaboration. The camp allows students to listen, share and learn from each other. The camp ranges from two to eight weeks of sessions and offers the tools to inspire and prepare students as future problem-solvers for a 21st-century world.
Labs
Our S.T.E.A.M. Lab provides a holistic approach to implementing S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) programming. Our program allows kinesthetic learners to learn and explore while increasing a student’s motivation and desire to succeed. Our labs incorporate project-based explorative learning. In addition, social-emotional learning improves students’ academic performance, changes attitudes about learning, increases self-confidence, self-esteem, self-perception of academic competence, motivation to learn, and excitement about the upcoming school year.
“Today was a good day because I completed a lot of things I thought I could not do.”
……..J. Reed, Program Participant
Our simulated STEAM Labs facilitate active learning. Participants enjoy hands-on learning projects and activities that allow them to apply technology, science, art, math, and engineering skills as they experience 21st-century learning. Our labs include guided activities and exploratory experiential learning that encourage teamwork and fosters collaboration. The labs allow students to listen, share and learn from each other. Labs range from two to eight weeks sessions. The Lab offers the tools to inspire and prepare students as future problem-solvers for a 21st-century world. Participants maintain a portfolio.
Impacts
STEAM allows learners to experiment with ideas in hands-on, real-world situations through exploration. and experiential learning. Helping students learn STEAM is key to building a prosperous economy and teaching students skills they will use their whole lives. Through hands-on, project-based learning opportunities, our S.T.E.A.M. Labdirectly impacts the community by:
- Increase students’ positive attitudes toward S.T.E.A.M.
- Strengthen families by teaching students career-driven S.T.E.A.M. skills
- Promote cooperative rather than competitive experiences.
